What’s on in Goondiwindi: your weekend guide

Stuck for plans this weekend?  Here are a few events to tempt you away from the couch and never-ending reruns of Friends and My Kitchen Rules. You’re welcome.

 

1. Live @ The Hut

When: Friday March 4, 7:oopm

Where: ‘The Hut’ – cnr Callandoon and Frideswide st

Why: Let the inner diva and rockstar shine out of you at Live at the Hut – entertainment for locals by locals. It’s basically Goondiwindi’s version of The X Factor without the obnoxious celebrity judges. Even if you’re not a performer you can tag along with your nibbles and drinks and enjoy some home grown talent.

 

2. Meet the Candidates – Toobeah

When:  Friday March 4, 6:00pm

Where: Coronation Hotel, Toobeah

Why? Because local elections! Yay! Another chance to meet the faces behind the campaign posters and see what each council nominee has to say on important community issues. Recycling, tourism and nuclear waste have all been hot topics so far – what will this meeting bring out?

 

3. Sunday Youth Group

When: Sunday March 6, 3-5pm

Where: PCYC

Why: Have you got a medium-sized human sitting around at home looking for something to do on a Sunday afternoon? TUFF – Teens United Fearlessly though Faith are running a Sunday Youth group at PCYC for kids aged between 12 – 17 years, and includes activities, music, food and friendship.

4. Dragon Boating on the river

When: Sunday March 6 7:30am

Where: The MacIntyre boat ramp, Goondiwindi

Why: Because upper body strength, anyone? What could be more relaxing than paddling down the MacIntyre on a beautiful Sunday morning? It’s $5 to join in and totally worth skipping the sleep in.
