For the second weekend in a row Police have been called to a violent crime in Goondiwindi.
Police are investigating after a woman was unlawfully wounded in Goondiwindi early Sunday morning.
Initial investigations suggest around 6.10am emergency services were called to a McLean Street address after reports a woman received a knife wound.
The 45-year-old woman sustained a large wound to the right side of her neck.
The injured woman was airlifted to the Princess Alexandra Hospital where she remains in a critical but stable condition.
Police forensic officers have attended the scene and investigations are ongoing.
The weekend event follows the charging of a 24-year-old Goodwindi man last weekend with one count each of enter dwelling with intent, robbery and deprivation of liberty.
Police say a 44-year-old male resident was threatened with the machete and the resident received minor injuries to his hand as a result of that incident.
