A free and confidential health service is coming to the region, thanks to Darling Downs Hospital and Health Service.
Health nurse Barbara Milne will heading out on the road to a variety of locations to ensure women have access to basic health services, like pap smear tests. While they may be uncomfortable to talk about, they are extremely important for women’s health.
“A pap smear every two years can prevent the most common form of cervical cancer in up to 90 percent of cases and is the best protection against cervical cancer.” Ms Milne said. Women are advised to have the test done every two years.
Ms Milne will also offer sexual health testing and advice for a range of issues including menopause, continence, contraception and general wellbeing.
