Bonshaw house fire 

QLD Appliance from Texas and Yelarbon were tasked to attend a house fire on Atholwood Road, Bonshaw late yesterday afternoon.  NSW Rural Brigades were also in attendance. On arrival the house was fully involved with fire and was extinguished with a combined effort by the QLD and NSW fire fighters.

Inspector of QLD Fire and Emergency Services Lance McHugh was in attendance and says all persons were accounted for and safe.

Others in attendance were Essential Energy, QLD Ambulance Service and surrounding farmers.

Back to school

This week marks the first week back for students in Queensland schools. Officer in Charge of the Goondiwindi Police Station Senior Sergeant MCINTOSH reminds motorists and the general public that Wednesday is officially the first day of school and Police will be actively patrolling school zones.  MCINTOSH stated that between the hours of 7-9am and 2-4pm in designated 40km/hr marked school zones that motorists could expect to see an increased Police presence as a reminder to slow down around schools.

 

 

Disorderly behaviour

On the 22nd January Goondiwindi Police attended a location on Herbert Street Goondiwindi. Police spoke with an 18 year old male of a Goondiwindi address who committing a public nuisance offence by being disorderly and carrying on. Police subsequently arrested the 18 year old and transported him to the Goondiwindi police Station where he was bailed to attend Goondiwindi Magistrates Court on the 17th February in relation to the matter.

 

Driving under the influence 

At about 8pm on the 22nd January Goondiwindi Police were conducting Road Side breath tests on Marshall Street Goondiwindi. A 43 year old female of a Goondiwindi address failed a preliminary test and was escorted to the Goondiwindi Police Station to under a breath analysis. The driver provided a reading of 0.054% and was issued with a Notice to Appear before the Goondiwindi Magistrates Court on the 17th February for the low range drink drive matter.

At about 8am on the 23rd January Police from the Goondiwindi Road Policing Unit conducted a road side drug test of a 24 year old male of a Goondiwindi address. The 24 year old driver failed the road side drug test and was subsequently issued with a suspension notice as well as a Notice to Appear for drug driving to appear before the Goondiwindi Magistrates Court on the 17th February.

Later that afternoon Road Policing Unit Police intercepted a vehicle on the Cunningham Highway Goondiwindi. Police conducted a road side drug test of a 44 year old male of a Warwick address who was driving the vehicle at the time. The 44 year old male driver failed the road side test and was issued with suspension notice as well as a Notice to Appear for drug driving to appear before the Goondiwindi Magistrates Court on the 17th February.

At about 8:30am on the 24th Police from the Goondiwindi Road Policing Unit conducted a road side breath test of a 24 year old male driver of a Tenterfield address on Marshall Street Goondiwindi. The 24 year old male driver failed the road side test and was subsequently transported to the Goondiwindi Police Station for a breath analysis. The driver provided a reading of 0.086% and was issued with a suspension notice and a Notice to Appear before the Goondiwindi Magistrates court on the 17th February.

At about 10am on the 24th January Police from the Road Policing Unit conducted a random breath test of a vehicle in Russell Street Goondiwindi. The 39 year old female of a Boggabilla address failed the preliminary test and was transported to the Goondiwindi Police Station for a breath analysis. The 39 year old female driver provided a reading of 0.106% and was issued with a suspension notice and a Notice to Appear before the Goondiwindi Magistrates Court on the 17th February for Mid-Range drink driving.

 

Overturned road train

At about 4pm on the 24th January Talwood Police attended a location on the Barwon Highway about 30km west of Talwood. Police report that a trailer of a road train has been overturned at the location with the prime mover remaining upright. Police report that the driver was unharmed.
