Aircraft incident, Quilpie

A 47-year-old man remains in a critical condition in the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane after yesterday’s light plane crash at Quilpie.

Police say the light plane was assisting in cattle work when it crashed into a paddock on a property at Humeburn Road in Quilpie around 3.30 yesterday afternoon.

The pilot, the sole occupant, suffered serious injuries in the crash and was rushed to Charleville Base Hospital before being airlifted overnight to Brisbane for specialist treatment.

Investigations into the cause of the crash are continuing at the site today.

Meanwhile investigations continue into the helicopter crash off Whitsundays late yesterday afternoon in which two people died.

Another of the five on board sustained serious injuries and remains critical, while the two others are being treated for minor injuries.
